Irene Gilligan

Irene Gilligan, 83, of 16 Bellflower Road, Billerica, Ma., died August 22, 2000, at Maple Leaf Nursing Home. She was born in Manchester, NH on October 4, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Marie Ange (Rheaume) Charpentier and resided 40 years in Billerica, Ma. She moved back to Manchester in 1996. She was an avid ice skater in her earlier years and enjoyed sewing. She was the widow of William Gilligan who died in 1974. Family members include two sons, David Gilligan of Hopkinton and Mark Gilligan of Mt. Juliet, Tennesee, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Eugene Charpentier and Richard Charpentier, both of California, four sisters, Helen Blanchette of Manchester, Paula Stiner of Sandown, Genevieve Vieira of Exeter and Evelyn Gilbert of Evergreen, Colorado, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Friday morning from 9 to 11 o'clock with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11:30 o'clock in St. Catherine Church. Burial is in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica, Ma.
