Irene Patricia Goudreault
Irene Patricia (Young) Goudreault, 71 passed away at her home on September 4, 2014,
after fighting a courageous battle against cancer for two long years.
She was given tender, loving care at home by her two sisters, Lillie and
Nora, and her long-time friend, Rita Braley.
The daughter of Lawrence C Young and Rita S Young, Irene was born in Manchester on
December 30, 1942. She was raised on the West Side and graduated from West High School
in 1961. Soon thereafter, she met the love of her life, Bud Goudreault, and they were married in '62.
In April of the following year, their son Dana was born.
Irene worked in her young adult years at Tel Labs and RCL Electronics in Manchester
but would later join her husband in a cleaning company venture called 'Partner's Cleaning',
eventually cleaning the grammar school she attended (now Varney School Apartments).
Irene loved to sing, play the piano, go to local bingo and the
occasional trip "To Foxies!" (Foxwoods)
In 2009, Irene flew on a jet for the very first (and last) time. It
was an adventure she would speak of almost daily for the rest of her
life. With her friend Rita, son Dana and his wife Marge, they took a
whirlwind 5-day vacation to Las Vegas. "It was the GREATEST time of my life!"
she would say, and she would force anyone who would visit to watch the DVD of the trip.
She leaves behind her son, Dana L. Goudreault and his wife, Marjorie, and three grandchildren,
David, Christopher and Jessica, and daughter, Roberta Goudreault.
She also leaves her two sisters, Lillie Duquette and her husband Nelson, Nora Paris and her husband Ron,
her Auntie Irene St. Pierre, several nieces, nephews, cousins, her beloved dog Chico, and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Irene's memory to The Precious Blood Monastery, 700 Bridge St. Manchester, NH 03104.
Family and close friends will honor and remember Irene's life by gathering at the Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. (Corner of Union St.) Manchester on Friday, September 12th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service and Candlelight Vigil will begin at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Relatives and close friends kindly invited to attend.
