Irene Mary Jewett

Irene Jewett 1927-2012 Irene Jewett, age 84, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012. She was born in Putney, Vt. on Oct. 12, 1927, the daughter of Eugene and Mildred (Johnson) Dunham. Irene grew up in Putney where she attended school and later was married to Walton Jewett on Oct. 11, 1947. A lifelong resident of the area she worked at Basketville as a basket weaver for over 25 years. She loved spending time with her family and going on their annual vacation to Lake St. Catherine. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother, Richard Dunham of Abilene, Texas; her two daughters, Theresa Smart and Sandra Jewett of Dummerston; her granddaughters, Lisa Johnson of Vernon and Christie Benoit of Bellows Falls. Also surviving are three great-grand-children, Tyler Johnson, Lindsay Johnson and Logan Bosse. Relatives and friends are invited to graveside services at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Putney on Thursday, April 19th at 11 a.m.
