Irene Veronique (Duhamel) Paradis, 86, of Bedford, passed away on October 5, 2025, at Elliot Hospital with loved ones by her side. Born in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred A. Duhamel Jr., and Veronique L. (Dumas) Duhamel. She grew up in Manchester and graduated from St. George High School in 1958. Before she married, Irene worked at Minneapolis Honeywell, where she enjoyed her work soldering.
Irene married the love of her life, Roland H. Paradis Sr. in 1960, and they raised their family in Bedford, where she had resided for nearly 60 years. She was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford, and she dedicated her time to her family as a homemaker. She also, at times, worked alongside her husband at their company, Jutras Signs.
Irene and Roland were long time supporters and volunteers at The Salvation Army in Manchester, and involved the family by including them in the annual bell-ringing campaigns and warm clothing drives.
Irene enjoyed her big family, and welcomed visits to her home. In the midst of many children playing in and around the house, she said she liked the loud laughter and affectionately called it “happy noise”.
She enjoyed the warm, dry days of summer, a good glass of wine, shopping, visiting with extended family, and dining out (because she said it was better than having to do dishes at home). She had an affectionate, teasing nature, and enjoyed a good laugh.
Irene is survived by her five children: Diane (Paul) Raynor of Weare; Roland (Suzanne) Paradis; Cathy (Peter) Carpenter of Hopkinton; Renee (Brian) Bowen; and Sharon (Serafim) Galatas of Bedford, as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She also leaves several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 4pm-6pm at Phaneuf Funeral
Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester NH 03104. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday Oct. 15, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, with Cemetery Committal at Mt. Calvary Cemetery
at 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester NH.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to The Salvation Army in Manchester or The Liberty House in Manchester, which was founded by her late brother, Donald Duhamel.
