Irene A. Payment

Irene A. Payment, 95, formerly of 372 Beech Street, died April 6, 2007 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home. She was born in Manchester on December 21, 1911, the daughter of Henri and Laura (Archambeault) Payment. Earlier in her life, she was a nun with the Sisters of Mercy. After that she worked as a nurse’s aid at Sacred Heart Hospital in Manchester for 21 years. She also volunteered for the VNA. She was a long-timer parishioner of St. Augustin Church and was a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. While she never married, she considered her great nephews and nieces her grandchildren. She enjoyed arts and crafts and was an accomplished seamstress. She created many pieces of clothing which she donated to the church. Irene’s mission in life was to serve others. Family members include one niece, Pauline Perry of FL; one nephew, Robert Lamarche of TX; and many grand nephews and grand nieces and great grand nephews and nieces. A calling hour will take place on Monday morning from 10 to 11 AM in Mt. Carmel Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 in the chapel at Mt. Carmel.
