Irene D. Skarlos
Irene D. (Doumas) Skarlos, 91, of Manchester, passed away on March 16, 2018 at Maple Leaf Health Care center with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Manchester on October 14, 1926, the daughter of Simos and Georgia (Kounelas) Doumas and resided in CT for a number of years before moving back to Manchester in 1969. She had worked for Bonneville and Son as an office manager for 26 years until her retirement. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. She loved to knit and often made baby hats for the babies born at the Elliot Hospital where she was also a volunteer for many years. She enjoyed cooking, reading and watching game shows on TV.
Family members include her husband of 67 years, George Skarlos; her son, Nicholas Skarlos of Manchester; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel at 6 PM. Burial will be at the NH State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
