Irene Lucille (Potter) Sutkus, 77, of Meredith, NH, died December 10, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH. 

Irene was born on February 25, 1947, in Waltham, MA, the oldest daughter of Robert and Lucille Potter and the sister of Alice Atwood and Richard Potter. She spent her childhood in Bedford, MA, and York Beach, ME, and graduated from Bedford High in 1965. Following high school, she attended Katherine Gibbs secretarial school and received an associate degree in Accounting from Bentley College. 

Irene had a wonderful career at Campers Inn and retired from Geological Services Inc. as an accountant. In her retirement years she was an accountant for the New England Chapter of the Blind Commission.

Irene was the wife of James A. Sutkus for 38 years, they had 3 children and divorced in 2004. She spent the past several years residing in Meredith with her partner, Tony Bonanno.

Irene was a loving, caring Mother and friend. Her personality stood out wherever she went. She was kind and generous to many causes, giving her time, money or donating goods. She was passionate about outdoor life. She enjoyed travelling, camping, fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, canoeing, cross country skiing, gardening and mountain climbing. She was religious and participated in many churches. She sang in a choral group, was a girl scout leader and loved collecting and selling antiques.

Irene is survived by her 3 children, Cyndy Fales and her husband Tom, Donna Schrankel and her husband Peter and Jay Sutkus and his wife Shantelle, as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Irene’s name to the American Heart Association.
