Irene E. Thissell

Irene E. (Cote) Thissell, 95, of Vernon, CT formerly of Bedford, NH died May 28, 2009 at Vernon Manor in CT. She was the wife of the late Harold R. Thissell. She was born on September 29, 1913 the daughter of the late Charles and Eugenie (Langlois) Cote. She was raised and educated in Lowell. Mrs. Thissell was a resident of the greater Manchester area since 1958. She graduated from Lowell General Hospital Nursing School with the Class of 1935. She did graduate work at Boston Laying-in now known as Brigham and Women's Hospital. Mrs. Thissell worked as a registered nurse at Lowell General Hospital, Laconia Hospital and 17 years at Notre Dame and Catholic Medical Center. She was past president of the Lowell General Hospital Nursing School Alumni Association. Mrs. Thissell enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, travel, knitting and cooking. She is survived by her two sons, Richard Thissell of Goffstown and C. Stephen Thissell of Chester; daughter, Linda Lee of Rockville, CT; sister, Gertrude Nolin of Columbia, MO. In Her Life: She is also survived by two daughters in law: Merrilee Thissell, Janice Thissell; a son in law: David Lee; 6 grandchildren: Joshua A. Thissell, Jeremiah D. Thissell, Jeremy T. Thissell, Gena E. Thissell, Christian D. Lee and Laura B. Weimann, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Jameson G. Thissell. Services: Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00AM at St. Lawrence Church, Goffstown. Burial will follow at Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Vernon Manor Alzheimer's Unit, 180 Regan Road, Vernon, CT 06066.
