Iris V. Horton

Iris Horton, 72 peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 4, 2020. Iris was a resident of Derry NH for the past 13 years.

Iris was born in Weiden, Germany on August 5, 1947. She moved to Virginia in 1980, then North Carolina before coming to New Hampshire to be with her daughters.

Iris loved all animals. She would be happy with a dog by her side, coffee in her hand, a scratch ticket and chocolate for a snack. Her personality really came out at family gatherings where she would mix up her German and English which would make everyone laugh and smile. Her proudest accomplishments were her daughters and her grandchildren. She would brag about them to everyone that would listen. Anyone who ever met her will tell you what a kind and sweet person she was and she would do anything for you.

Iris was predeceased by her mother and father, Erika Allsleben and Waldemar Zernak, her brother Oliver Zernak.

Iris is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Owen and husband Lindsay of Derry NH, Trish Cooper and husband Kevin of Manchester NH. 4 grandchildren, Kyle Cooper, Katherine Cooper, Derek Cullipher and Mina Owen. Three sisters, Tamara, Marion and Claudia of Germany.

A private memorial for the family is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, Iris would have loved for you to make a donation to a local animal shelter.
