Whitefield, NH  J Albert Chapdelaine, 91, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2003. Known to all as Chappy, he was born and raised in Manchester NH, graduated from St Augustine High School, and attended NH College, pursuing business courses.

He trained as a printer and, in addition to working for the Union Leader for several years, started his own print shop that included the publishing of a French newspaper. After that, he pursued several business adventures including the establishment of a club on the east side of Manchester, land development, and the setting up of an independent gas station (Chappys), located on S. Willow Street.

He had an avid interest in athletics and sports, particularly horse racing. He was a certified horse trainer, and owned and raced many horses over the years, primarily at Rockingham Park.

His family includes his wife of 65 years, Bernadette (Laflamme); three daughters, Suzanne Morley of Franconia, Elaine Gould and Michelle Cronin, both of Manchester; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Raymond, who died in 1953.

Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St Rose of Lima in Littleton, NH at 10:00 AM Monday, June 16th with the Rev. Father Joseph Klatka officiating. Interment will take place at a later date, in Manchester.
