J. Albert Chapdelaine
Whitefield, NH J Albert Chapdelaine, 91, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2003. Known to all as Chappy, he was born and raised in Manchester NH, graduated from St Augustine High School, and attended NH College, pursuing business courses.
He trained as a printer and, in addition to working for the Union Leader for several years, started his own print shop that included the publishing of a French newspaper. After that, he pursued several business adventures including the establishment of a club on the east side of Manchester, land development, and the setting up of an independent gas station (Chappys), located on S. Willow Street.
He had an avid interest in athletics and sports, particularly horse racing. He was a certified horse trainer, and owned and raced many horses over the years, primarily at Rockingham Park.
His family includes his wife of 65 years, Bernadette (Laflamme); three daughters, Suzanne Morley of Franconia, Elaine Gould and Michelle Cronin, both of Manchester; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Raymond, who died in 1953.
Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St Rose of Lima in Littleton, NH at 10:00 AM Monday, June 16th with the Rev. Father Joseph Klatka officiating. Interment will take place at a later date, in Manchester.
