Jaime Fernandes, 81, of Merrimack, died December 7, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 22, 1926, the son of Antonio and Maria (Garcia) Fernandes Roxo. He lived for many years in Portugal before moving to New York in 1959. He had been a New Hampshire resident since 2000. He had worked in road construction for most of his career. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church. While living in Jamaica, NY, he was an active member of the Portuguese Community and St. Pius V Church. He was predeceased by a daughter, Conceicao Roxo in 1959. Family members include his wife of 57 years, Ana Fernandes Roxo; two sons, Antonio Roxo of Bedford and Alvaro Roxo of St. James, NY; two daughters, Maria Burns of Merrimack and Lucy Campbell of Colfax, CA; nine grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church. Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
