James V. Blake, 62, of Manchester died at home on March 6, 2007 following a period of failing health. He was born on October 8, 1944 in Laconia the son of Vincent and Florence (Collins) Blake. He was a graduate of Laconia High School and later joined the US Army where he was a member of the 39th Army Band with whom he continued to play with for years after. He was a machinist by trade but his real passion was for his music. Although the trumpet was his favorite piece, Jimmy could play any instrument, and he did. Besides having a selection of musical instruments, he also had quite a collection of model trains. Family members include; two sons, Steven J. Blake of Manchester and Alexander T. Blake of Cannan; two grandsons, one sister, Marjorie Rudolph of Northfield; and many nieces and nephews. Burial will be at a later date in Northumberland Cemetery. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
