James R. Borthwick, 74, of Litchfield, died April 2, 2001 at IHS in Manchester following a long illness. He was born in Candia on August 18, 1926, the son of Ross and Florida (Belisle) Borthwick and had lived in Manchester before moving to Litchfield twelve years ago. He was a World War II Army Veteran and served with the occupation forces in Okanawa, Japan. He worked for forty five years at Kimball- Brown Moving Company. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed gardening. Family members include his wife, Irene (Laforte) Borthwick; a son, Robert J. Borthwick of Litchfield; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Linda) Hebert of Litchfield; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Borthwick of Manchester; three sisters, Muriel Lee of FL, Pauline Gray of CA and Rita Mondoux of Manchester; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours are at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday morning at 11:00. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
