Mr. James W. Cavanaugh, 84, of Manchester, died September 5, 2008 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown. He was born on February 24, 1924 in Manchester the son of the late Leo and Ina (Merrill) Cavanaugh. Mr. Cavanaugh graduated from Central High School, in Manchester and later graduated from Babson College and Hesser College. During World War II he served in the US Air Force. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with four oak leaf clusters and the Air Medal for his service to his country. He was the owner and operator of Ring & Cavanaugh, where he sold recreational vehicles. James was Vice President of Leo A. Cavanaugh and Son. He was past president of the NH Auto Dealers Association. In His Life: He is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Jeanne R. Cavanaugh; son Paul J. Cavanaugh Sr. and his wife Linda Raymond Cavanaugh of Goffstown; daughter, Linda J. (Cavanaugh) LeBlond and her husband Raymond LeBlond of Claremont; three grandchildren, Shannon M. Cavanaugh, Paul J. Cavanaugh Jr., and Alexandre J. LeBlond; sister, Marilyn Warren and her husband Thomas Warren of Auburn, several nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family Eyan Arel and his wife Shawn and their daughter Abbey. He was predeceased by his son, Bruce J. Cavanaugh who died in 1958. Calling Hours are the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Monday from 7-9PM. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
