JAMES WOODWARD CLOTHEY, JR.
WHITEFIELD, NH James W. Clothey, Jr., age 60, passed away suddenly at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, on Thursday, March 2, 2006.
Jim was born on December 20, 1945, a son to James W. and Beverly (Hazard) Clothey, in St. Johnsbury, VT. He grew up in South Burlington, VT, graduating from South Burlington High School in 1964. Jim gradated from the Cambridge School of Broadcasting in Boston, MA, in 1966.
Jims career as a broadcaster encompassed areas of auto racing and motor cross, radio stations, and some television announcing. At a young age Jim worked alongside Ken Squire, announcing at racetracks including Thunder Road, Catamount, and Airborne Speedway. He began broadcasting on Radio at WDOT, then a popular radio station in Burlington. He also worked at WSKI-radio in Montpelier, VT. Jim was well known as the race announcer at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, a number of years ago, and around that time was the News Director, and Programming Director of Station WLGW in Lancaster, NH. Jim began at WLTN in 1991 as a News Director, where he was well respected and listened to by thousands over the years. Jim left WLTN briefly in 1999 to join his wife, Terri, in a family retail business, A Different Path, on Littletons Main Street. He returned to WLTN in July 2002 at the request of Barry Lunderville, where he had become a treasured part of the Morning Mix.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors as a hunter and marksman and of course his long love for auto racing. He was highly devoted to his job, and was one of the North Countrys finest broadcasters. Jim leaves his wife of 32 years, Theresa Terri Clothey of Whitefield, one sister, Jayne and her husband, Jerry Williams of Tempi, AZ, a daughter, Pam; a Grandson, Jackson Comeau, and many cousins.
SERVICES A celebration of Jims life will be held on Friday, March 10, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge #1831 on Route 302 in Littleton, NH.
