James A. Currier, 68, of 20 McAllister Road, Bedford, died February 14, 2000 at his residence. He was born in Manchester on February 17, 1931, the son of Alfred and Blanche (Beaudoin) Currier and resided all of his life in the Manchester and Bedford area. He graduated from West High School and from St. Anselms College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had served in the 39th Army Band with the New Hampshire National Guard and the 55th Army Band in Germany during the Korean War era. He had worked as a pharmaceutical representative for over 30 yeas until his retirement. He was an avid musician all of his life and had recently been teaching woodwind instruments for the Bedford Performing Arts. During his musical career, he had been part of many local and regional bands, most notably the Roger Carrier Orchestra, the Billy Moore Band, the Ray Decorse Combo and the Moe Breton Big Band. He was an active parishioner of St. Raphael Church and was a member of the choir. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jane (Madden) Currier, who died in 1984. Family members include his wife of fourteen years, Lorraine (Neeff) Currier; two sons, Matthew Currier of Bedford and Thomas Currier of Fremont; a daughter, Kate Currier Albert of Nottingham; a stepson, Jeffrey Tyler of Hudson; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Chad (Jeanne) Shimunek of Lattimer Mines, PA and Jennifer Tyler of Derry; ten grandchildren; a sister, Judith Currier of Sedona, AZ; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 in St. Raphael Church. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery.
