James E. Dufresne, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed unexpectedly at home on February 1, 2026, at the age of 70. He was born on June 19, 1955, in Stuttgart, Germany, to an Army father who relocated the family several times throughout his military career. James spent his early years in Lawrence and Andover, Massachusetts, and moved to Manchester, New Hampshire in 2019 to be closer to family.
Known for his big heart and gentle spirit, James had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh. His family remembers his ability to always bring a smile to their faces, and he cherished every moment spent with them, particularly during family gatherings. He had a strong bond with his siblings and valued family above all else. As one of seven children, he enjoyed a special connection with each of his brothers and sisters.
In addition to his family, James loved to fish, especially in the lakes of the White Mountains, where he created lasting memories with his loved ones. He was a dedicated and loving father whose pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.
James is survived by his son Jason Dufresne and his wife Ashley, daughter Blair Stairs and her husband Corey, sister Patricia Chaisson, brother Thomas Dufresne, sister Margaret Dupont, ex-wife Kim Mooshian and five grandchildren: Nolan, Brayden, Madelyn, Dominick, Jason, and Audrey. He also leaves behind many a niece, many nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
