James Leo Gillen

James Leo Gillen, 86, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, March 26th, 2018, at the Hackett Hill Healthcare Center. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on January 2nd, 1932, son of the late John and Ellen (Dolan) Gillen, who immigrated to New York from Ireland.

Jim graduated from St. Michael's High School in Brooklyn, Class of 1950. After high school, he served in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. He went on to study accounting at CUNY Baruch College and graduated in the class of 1960. Jim worked as an accountant for many years, retiring from BASF Industries.

Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Yvonne (Bugdonis) Gillen; his brother Michael Gillen and his wife Alice of Lakewood, NJ; his daughter Anne Gillen of Greenville, MS; his daughter Diane Dwyer and her husband Patrick of Bedford, NH; and three grandchildren, Erin, Shannon, and Ryan Dwyer. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen DiGrazia.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held at St. Catherine of Siena, 207 Hemlock Street, Manchester, NH, on Monday, April 2nd at 10am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. He will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, he would like donations to the Birch Hill Employee Appreciation Fund, 200 Alliance Way, Manchester, NH, 03102 or Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate, Marycrest Convent, P.O. Box 658, Monroe, NY 10949.
