He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School Class of 1953, and was drafted by the US Army, proudly serving his country from 1956 to 1958. He played basketball in his youth and enjoyed watching professional sports, specifically local teams and the Atlanta Braves. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and friend who never cursed and always understood the importance of family.
Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years, Michelle (Dennis) Lahey; his sons, John and wife, Maggie, Tony and wife, Ann, and David and wife, Imelyn; grandchildren Joseph, Danielle, Mason, Justin, Austin, Shannan, Samantha, and Oliver; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and his cherished stuffed St. Bernard, Alps, who lives on eternally to provide comfort for Michelle. He was predeceased by his first child, his daughter Andrea, as well as all ten of his siblings, Albert and Marie who both died in infancy, and Arthur, Louis, Bill, Annabelle, Georgia, Alberta, Walter, and Bertha.
Jim will be laid to rest with military honors at 9:00am Monday, August 22, 2022, at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. Come as you are, summer casual, be comfortable. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the NH Humane Society, 1305 Meredith Center Rd. Laconia, NH, 03246.
