James A. Lahey

James A. “Jim” Lahey, 88, of Plymouth, NH died Tuesday, August 9, 2022, following a period of declining health.

Jim was born in Goffstown, NH February 2, 1934, the youngest of eleven children born to Albert and Belle (Clement) Lahey. He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School Class of 1953, and was drafted by the US Army, proudly serving his country from 1956 to 1958. With the exception of time spent in Italy and Germany while in the service, Jim lived in NH all his life but took every possible opportunity to explore the world beyond state lines. Jim enjoyed a long and successful career in retail, with 20 years dedicated to Ames Department Store.

Jim was a faithful parishioner of St Joseph Catholic Church in Lincoln, NH, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a passion for road tripping and loved St. Bernards. He played basketball in his youth and enjoyed watching professional sports, specifically local teams and the Atlanta Braves. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and friend who never cursed and always understood the importance of family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years, Michelle (Dennis) Lahey; his sons, John and wife, Maggie, Tony and wife, Ann, and David and wife, Imelyn; grandchildren Joseph, Danielle, Mason, Justin, Austin, Shannan, Samantha, and Oliver; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and his cherished stuffed St. Bernard, Alps, who lives on eternally to provide comfort for Michelle. He was predeceased by his first child, his daughter Andrea, as well as all ten of his siblings, Albert and Marie who both died in infancy, and Arthur, Louis, Bill, Annabelle, Georgia, Alberta, Walter, and Bertha.

Jim will be laid to rest with military honors at 9:00am Monday, August 22, 2022, at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. Come as you are, summer casual, be comfortable. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the NH Humane Society, 1305 Meredith Center Rd. Laconia, NH, 03246.
