James Dean Mom burg, a proud veteran of the United
States Navy, passed away September 25, 2022.
The son of Phillip and Nelly Momburg, Dean grew up
in Columbus, Ohio. He was born at White Cross
Hospital on March 25, 1943 and attended Aquinas
College High School, attended U.S. Naval Training
Center, Naval Submarine School, and was a member
of Phi Theta Kappa.
In 1964, Dean enlisted in the United States Navy. He
valued this service highly and attained the rank of
Master Chief Cryptologic Technician. As part of this
service, Dean received the National Defense Service
Medal (2), Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit
Commendation (3), Meritorious Unit Commendation,
Good Conduct Medal (Seventh), Rifle Marksmanship,
Expert Pistol, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Navy
Commendation (4). Dean retired Master Chief of
Command at Ft. Meade, Maryland.
James Dean Momburg is survived by his wife, Mary
Ellen Momburg, his brother and sister-in-law, Mike
and Joy Momburg, six children, twelve
grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His
loved ones will remember dozens of memories and
adventures. Dean and Mary Ellen got married June
14, 1976, traveled the world and celebrated 46 years
together.
