JAMES A. MOULTON
FRANCONIA, NH James A. Moulton, age 86, passed away on December 23, 2007 at the Littleton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
James was born on April 29, 1921, a son to George W. and Susie (Towle) Moulton in Lisbon, NH. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1939 and attended the University of New Hampshire from which he graduated in 1942. James enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation and served in the invasion of Normandy and southern France during World War II.
James married Rae (Ball) Moulton on October 7, 1944 and together raised their two sons, Larry and Perry. James was the State Merchandiser for the New Hampshire State Parks from 1946 to 1962. He and his wife opened the Gifts by Rae store in Littleton in 1962 and two years later opened Raes Smoke Shop in Littleton, which he operated with his family.
James was a member of the Franconia School Board from 1952-1969, a Trustee of the Littleton Hospital from 1954-1977 as well as Past President, a member of the Littleton Rotary Club from 1954-2007 and Past President, and the Coordinator of Federal Funds for the State of New Hampshire from 1974-1975.
Surviving family members include his wife of 63 years, Rae Moulton, and his two sons, Larry Moulton and Perry Moulton, all of Franconia. He was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
SERVICES Private family services were held on December 28th at the Pillsbury Funeral Home. A private burial will be held in the spring in the Elmwood Cemetery in Franconia, NH.
