James "J.R." Charles Richards, Jr., 54, of 104 Monroe Ave, Suncook, died February 16, 2003 at his residence following a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Manchester on February 5, 1949, the son of James Charles and Germaine Rose (Vigneault) Richards, Sr., and have been a resident of the city for most of his life before moving to Suncook twelve years ago. He owned and operated J.R.'s Auto Reconditioning in Manchester for eighteen years. Prior to that, he was involved in automobile sales for many years. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps National Guard for six years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed many sports. He raced stock cars at Hudson and Star Speedways. Family members include his long time companion, Emily (Stevens) Castle of Suncook; a son, Jeffrey Richards of Manchester; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Beth) Dickinson of Wolfeboro; a sisters; Mrs. Donald (Pat) Cayer of Manchester; one uncle, four aunts and several cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 7:00 PM.
