James B. Shea, Jr.

James B. Shea, Jr., 90, of Manchester, NH died on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH.  

Mr. Shea was born in March 13, 1932, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late James B. and Helena (Hamilton) Shea, Sr. He attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of Manchester, NH.

He was a graduate of West High School with the class of 1950. He then served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at March Air Force Base in California.

Mr. Shea retired from NYNEX where he worked as a lineman and central office installer until his retirement.

He was a member of the Raphael Social Club and the American Legion Sweeny Post.

Jim was very interested in all music as evidenced by his vast collection of vinyl albums, as well as an extensive knowledge of movies and actors. He enjoyed many trips to Boston, Hampton and local theatres to attend live concerts and plays, often filling his van with friends. He also escorted his friends’ children at a young age years ago to concerts and popular bands.

Jim will be remembered for his generosity and compassion by all who knew him.

Members of his family include; his niece, Charlotte Rivest, nephew, Michael Lemieux and his wife Dawn, several nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves lifelong friends, Don Chamberland, John Cashin, Nick Bolton, and Jeanne Chamberland. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Manning, brother, Robert Shea, and by friends, Richard Watson and Thomas Peltak.

SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 10, from 9 – 11 a.m. at  Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Manchester, NH.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
