James Philipp "Jim" Slack

Manchester

James Philipp Slack, 66, of Manchester, NH, passed away at Granite VNA Hospice House on February 4, 2025. Born in Biddeford, ME on December 29, 1958, he was a son of the late Sidney and Patricia (Dumont) Slack. He shared 24 years of companionship with his wife, Jenifer (Johnson) Slack.

Jim moved with his family from Biddeford, ME at age 6 to a military base in Adak, AK. They later settled in Manchester, NH when he was 16, where he was a 1977 graduate of Manchester Memorial High School and attended Hesser College. He had a long career of over 40 years at Hannaford, working in nearly every department during his time with the company. He also worked part time in security at the Verizon/SNHU Arena for several years.

Jim loved sports – he not only enjoyed watching sports, but he was also a cross-country coach at Southside Middle School and helped the Manchester East Little League with maintenance services. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar, karaoke and trips to the beach. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Jim loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jenifer Slack of Manchester; his daughters, Susan Field and her husband Jason of Auburn and Kelly Seichepine and her husband Daniel of Londonderry; his son, James Slack and his wife Stephanie of Nevada; his stepson, Casey Jones of Raymond; his siblings, Carol Jones of New Jersey, Susan Schaub and her husband Marc of Minnesota, Sharon Lyndsly of Washington, Eric Slack of New Jersey, and Bruce Slack of Manchester; his grandchildren, Emily and Ian Field, Sophia, Becca and Danny Seichepine, and Quintyn and Tennyson Slack; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his siblings, Nancy Harmon, Kathy McIntire, Sidney “Joe” Slack, and Deborah Etienne.

Services will be held on Monday, February 10th at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Visitation from 3PM-4PM with a funeral service at 4PM. Reception dinner immediately following the service. Location TBD.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire https://www.rescueleague.org/
