James A. Walsh

James "Jim" A Walsh, 71 of Brookline, VT formerly of Bridgeport, CT passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2015 at his residence in VT. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 18, 1943; the son of late Chester and Gladys (Aitken) Walsh.

Jim was educated in the Bridgeport school system. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 6 years. Jim was employed as a police officer for the city of Bridgeport for twenty years, retiring with the rank of Sargent. After his retirement he relocated to VT. He was active in his community serving in many elected and appointed positions in the local town government. He was also a very active Mason and Shriner. He joined Masonry in 1984 and served as Master of St John's 8 in Stratford CT in 1990. He was on the Board of Directors of the Shriners Hospital in Springfield Mass.
He is predeceased by a daughter, Alice M Walsh in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Alling) Walsh of Brookline, VT; two daughters, Margaret C Demaine and her husband Donald of Shelton, CT, Susan Riley and her husband Leslie of Key West, FL; three grandchildren, Michael, Douglas, and Kevin; four sisters Ruth, Rosanne, Gladys, and Carol; many nieces and nephews.

A Masonic celebration of his life was held on June 21 at 1 PM at America-St John's #8 3960 Main St. Stratford, Connecticut 06614. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Jim's name to the Shriners Hospital located 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
