Jane C. Boswell

Jane C. Boswell, 85, passed away peacefully at the Littleton Regional Hospital surrounded by her family on December 21, 2014. Jane was born January 3, 1929 in Littleton, NH, oldest of the identical red-headed twins born to Maurice and Doris (Aldrich) Stearns. She will be remembered by all as the sweet, smiling woman who received pure joy from being with her family and friends.

Jane graduated from Littleton High School and the following year married her high school sweetheart, Earl Boswell. For 64 years they shared their love for one and raised their four children in Littleton. Earl passed away in November 29, 2013.

Jane worked summers at the Parker Drug Stores in Littleton and Bethlehem serving up milk shakes and sundaes, all the while chatting about anything to anyone. After marriage, Jane worked at the front desk of Littleton Hospital for several years before deciding to stay home to care for her children and assist her husband in his job with the Manchester Union Leader newspaper.

Jane and Earl retired from the newspaper in 1990 and began spending winters in Florida near her twin, but always returned to summer at their family home at Forest Lake in Whitefield. Jane loved knitting, playing any type of table game, watching sports, and having the companionship of her family. Always ready to experience new things in life, Jane also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and much of western Europe. Jane was happiest when family and friends gathered for cookouts, celebrations, or visits.

Jane is survived by her four children Bonnie Boswell (David Wilson) of Whitefield, Michael Boswell (Kathy) of Littleton, Connie White (John) of Harrisville, NH, and Laurie Boswell (Arthur Hunt) of Franconia. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings Jean Kimball of Littleton, Maurice (Buzzy) Stearns of Concord, Roberta Lavoie of Littleton, and Robert Stearns of Monroe.

The family wishes to thank the kind staff of the Lafayette Center who cared for Jane the last year and a half of her life, and to the palliative care nurses at Littleton Regional Hospital.
