Jane S. (Desrochers) Carr, 90, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.

The oldest of six children born to Lionel and Lena (Demers) Desrochers, Jane was a lifelong resident of Manchester’s West Side and spent the last six years residing at RiverWoods in Manchester. After graduating from Manchester West High School, she joined the Hartford Insurance Company as a secretary. She worked there for more than forty years, culminating in her promotion to executive secretary to the general manager.

Jane met the love of her life, Robert Carr, at a local dance hall, where he swept her off her feet. The two married in 1958 and went on to raise two children.

Jane was known to family and friends alike as whip-smart, organized, and generous—qualities she brought to both her professional and personal life. Coming from a large family, she was equally at home in a crowd or alone with a book. A voracious reader of all genres, Jane always had an excellent book recommendation for family and friends. Throughout her life, she was also a consummate and loving caregiver, from tending to her younger siblings to caring for her aging parents. In her spare time, Jane enjoyed the theater, movies, museums, singing with the Women, Spirit, Song ensemble, cheering on her beloved Red Sox, and beating her family at Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit, where she reliably knew all the answers. Jane loved fashion; she had a quiet sense of style and took pride in always looking neat and well put together. Sharp as a tack until her passing, she could often be found reading, watching TV, and doing a crossword. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was thrilled to celebrate her 90th birthday with them and her extended family last year at the Cliff House in Ogunquit, Maine, one of her favorite vacation spots with her husband, Bob.

Jane will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tracey (Carr) Taylor, and her husband, Richard, of Windham, NH; her two grandchildren, Megan (Carr) Standafer of Bow, NH, and Robert Carr and his husband, Miguel Salazar, of Bow, NH; her four great-grandchildren, Luke, Camden, Benjamin, and Lena Standafer; and three siblings: Diane (Bob) Gauthier of Manchester; Susan (Michael) Nye of Somersworth, NH; and Peter (Kate) Desrochers of Bolivia, NC. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Jane was predeceased by her sister, Jocelyn (Desrochers) DeNauw; her brother, Richard Desrochers; her husband of 61 years, Robert H. Carr; and her beloved son, John R. Carr.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend.
