Jane E. Hampton, 76, of Goffstown, NH died on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester after a brief illness.
Mrs. Hampton was born on July 22, 1943, in East Syracuse, NY the daughter of the late Raymond and Nellie (Webb) Cavanaugh.
Mrs. Hampton worked as a college professor until a few weeks ago, most recently at Manchester Community College. Her love of history and teaching led her and her husband on many adventures, often to Gettysburg. She belonged to the Daughters of the Revolution and participated in reenactments with her husband.
Jane was an avid crafter and seamstress. She was known for her doll clothes (sewn and knitted) and her Christmas stockings but her talents were many.
Members of her family include; her husband, Benjamin H. Hampton, Jr, of Goffstown, NH; her two children, Danielle Bender Amero and her husband Michael, of Somersworth, NH and John Bender Jr and his wife Laura of Middleboro MA; her husband's children, who she loved as her own, Benjamin H. Hampton, III and his wife Debbie of Easton, MA, Elizabeth Shapiro and her husband Michael, of Dracut, MA and James J. Hampton; her 8 grandchildren, whom she loved more than words can express, Joshua, Jacob, and Rhiannon Amero, Abigail, Madelyn Kate, and Justin Bender, Katie and Andrew Shapiro.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Elliot Hospital and Hillsborough County Nursing Home for their care over the last two weeks.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2019, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
