Janet A. Plant

Janet A. (Peterson) Plant, 80, of Litchfield, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love. 

Born on January 31, 1945, in Boston, MA, to Yngve W. and Ruth (Anderson) Peterson of Sweden, Janet moved to Manchester, NH at the age of three and proudly called New Hampshire home throughout her life, living in Manchester, Milford, Bedford, and finally Litchfield. 

A proud graduate of Memorial High School, Class of 1963, Janet went on to Becker Junior College, where she graduated as valedictorian in 1965. Her commitment to hard work and lifelong learning was a thread that ran through every chapter of her life. 

Professionally, Janet built an impressive career through sheer dedication and leadership. She worked at E.K. Wheeler Inc. (1962–1970), Dutton & Garfield, Inc. (1970–1988), and retired as Vice President of The Palazzi Corporation in 2013. After retiring, she stayed active in her community, volunteering at the Griffin Memorial School Library from 2015 to 2023, nurturing young minds with her love of reading. 

Janet married the love of her life, Donald W. Plant, on October 1, 1966. Together they built a beautiful family, raising their daughters Cynthia A. Coyne (Patrick) and Deborah L. Bremberg (Joshua), and carrying in their hearts the memory of their twin sons, Mark and Keith Plant, who passed shortly after birth in 1971. 

Janet adored her grandchildren — Ryan P. Coyne, Aiden S. Coyne, Chloe D. Bremberg, and Kelsi L. Bremberg — and found great joy in watching them grow, both in sports and academics. She was always their biggest cheerleader on the sidelines! She was also a loving sister to Richard G. Peterson (Susan) of Londonderry, NH, and a proud aunt to Eric Peterson of Nashua, NH. Her life was brightened by the enduring friendship of John and Linda Olsen of Hooksett, NH.

To her family, Janet was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend — she was a source of constant wisdom and encouragement. Known affectionately for her collection of sayings, “Nuna always says…” became a cherished family refrain. Among her favorite pieces of advice: “Many hands make light work,” and, “It’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it” — simple truths that perfectly captured her pragmatic, generous spirit. 

Janet often said she was “blessed beyond measure” by her family and friends, and remained deeply grateful for every prayer, thought, and kindness shared with her. 

Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and everyday wisdom — a life well-lived, and a heart that will be missed beyond words. 

SERVICES: A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday May 31st 2025, from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. in Manchester, NH. A memorial service will follow at 1:45 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
