Janice M. Merrill, 72, of Manchester died February 14, 2011 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.
She was born on August 1, 1938 in Houlton, ME the daughter of the late Hollis and Violet (Shannon) Bickford. She was raised and educated in Houlton. Mrs. Merrill had lived in Hooksett for many years and spent the last two years at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center.
In her younger years she worked on the farms harvesting potatoes and in the shoe factories. Later she worked in retail and was the head cashier at Toys R Us in Manchester for many years, where she was affectionately known as the âBoo Ladyâ.
She enjoyed birds, dancing and taking walks at the ocean. Her grandchildren were her life. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Lori Bridges of York harbor, ME, Pamela Merrill of Manchester, Penney Race of Manchester and Theresa Siegler of Hillsboro; son, Kevin Bickford of Houlton, ME; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and her brother, Earl Bickford of Vernon, CT. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Merrill.
