Born in Granby, Québec, Canada, on March 8, 1931, Janine was the daughter of the late Éphrem and Alberta (Rivard) Martin. She lived a vibrant life centered around her deep faith, her home, and her devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry D’Anjou, as well as her brothers, Bertrand, Ray, and Marcel Martin.
Janine was a tireless worker who co-owned and operated D’Anjou’s Body Shop in West Stewartstown, NH, alongside her husband Henry for over 31 years.
To know Janine, everyone was to be welcomed into her home. She was a gifted cook, famous for her boeuf bourguignon, tourtières, bolognese sauce, crêpe suzettes, and Cantonese-style short ribs. She took immense joy in entertaining, making her table a place of warmth, laughter, and endless hospitality.
Beyond the kitchen, Janine was a talented seamstress who lovingly crafted tailored dresses, suits, and clothing modifications for her loved ones. She enjoyed making costumes for special occasions and dancing with the love of her life, Henry. She also possessed a passion for gardening and enjoyed growing flowers, especially bright red geraniums.
Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family. As the heart of the family, she passed down traditions, recipes, and wisdom that will be treasured for generations. She truly loved living life to the fullest.
Janine leaves behind a large, loving family, including Michael (Sara) D’Anjou of Hampton, NH; Marc D’Anjou of Londonderry, NH; Denyce (Steve) Walejeski of Green Valley, AZ; and Lissa (Robert) McLellan of Strafford, NH.
