Jean (McKay) Eckhardt
BedfordâJean (McKay) Eckhardt, 92, of Bedford, NH passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after living a long, illustrious life. She was the daughter of the late John Wiley and Mabel Frances (Kelley) McKay. Jean was raised and educated in West Hartford, CT. She attended and graduated from The Loomis Chaffee School, and graduated Hartford College for Women
She was one of the First Flight Attendants Hired by Pan American World Airways for overseas flights. This is where she met her beloved husband Edward Walter Eckhardt, Flight Radio Officer. They spent most of their married life in Wilton, New Hampshire. Edward died June 4, 2004 in the 58 year of their marriage, at which time they were living in Hancock, NH
Jean traveled extensively all around the world and her passions included bird watching, gardening, hiking, reading, playing golf and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for being a loving mom, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother; she always looked at the positive side; she saw the good in all people and was very generousâhelping others whenever she could. She will be missed be many.
Jean leaves behind her children, William (wife Lisa) Eckhardt from Merrimack, NH and Deborah (husband Gregory) Kalicin from Lisbon, NY, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a daughter, Gretchen Eckhart and a sister Ruth Upham Daly.
