Jean Eileen Kuehl

November 12, 1938 — December 29, 2024

Wolfeboro

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jean E. (Nelson) Kuehl, aged 86, who peacefully left us on December 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on November 12, 1938 in Brockton Massachusetts, to Lawrence Nelson and Marguerite (Palmer). She was one of eight children including her twin sister, three brothers and two sisters. She displayed an unwavering curiosity for life, a passion that would shape her life’s journey. Jean’s boundless energy, kindness, and dedication to her family left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She leaves behind her surviving brothers Peter Nelson of Harwich MA and Michael Nelson of Brockton MA.

Jean graduated Brockton High School in 1956 and married the love of her life, David Kuehl in 1961. Together they shared many adventures living the majority of her life raising their three children in Auburn NH. After his death in 1998 she lived in Hooksett until April 2024 when she moved in with her oldest daughter in Wolfeboro. She worked in a number of different jobs over the years and retired from the Girl Scouts in 2007.

A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, GiGi’s (as she was affectionately called by all who knew her) love and compassion knew no bounds. Her spirit was warm and welcoming. Jean’s spunk and zest for life was reflected in everything she did, including her MANY witty Facebook comments to friends and family.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Cara Gray and husband Peter of Wolfeboro, her son, Jeff Kuehl and wife Cindy of Auburn, her daughter, Kim Kuehl and her partner Jeffrey Farwell of Manchester. She also leaves behind grandsons Max and Christopher, granddaughters Tara, Alexa and Molly, great grandchildren Audrina, Tommy, Brielle, Corbin, Beckett and Eleanor whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her husband David, she was predeceased by her twin sister Joan Griffin, brothers Lawrence Nelson, Donald Nelson and sisters Margaret Picanzi and Carol Mackin.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Jean’s love and wisdom will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held on January 10, 2025 at Phaneuf Funeral Home in Manchester, with visitation from 4-6 pm, followed by light refreshments from 6-7pm. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Jean’s honor.

Jean’s memory will live on in the love she shared, the lessons she imparted, and the joy she brought to the world. Rest in peace, Mom, Gramma and GiGi. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
