Jeanne d'Arc would like to let you know her work here is done. On the evening of April 17, 2023, she received a call for an appointment from which she will not return. The long-awaited assignment comes with a significant bonus: a reunion with family and friends—from both Canada and the United States—whom she hasn't seen in a long time.
Born on September 10, 1927 and raised in Stoke, QC, Jeanne left her beloved hometown as a young wife and mother to make her home in Manchester, NH. She devoted herself to her family and enjoyed socializing, volunteering at her parish, knitting and crafting for family and charity, and welcoming company with an open door and a home-cooked meal.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Manchester where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and of the bereavement committee.
After 71 years of marriage, Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Gaston, in 2018 and now leaves behind five children: Laurian (Larry) Barriere and his wife, Christine, of Manchester, NH; Jocelyn (Joe) Barriere and his wife, Diane, of Manchester, NH; Richard (Rico) Barriere and his wife, Doris (Dolly); Huguette Barriere of Sebastopol, CA; and Mario Barriere of North Providence, RI. She had seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She has left strict instructions for her family and friends to set aside any sadness and instead celebrate the many years we enjoyed together.
SERVICES: Visitation will be Friday, April 21st, 4 to 7pm, at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Saturday, April 22nd, at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont Street, Manchester. Committal prayers to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jeanne Barriere to Monastery of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH 03104 or to VNA of Manchester and Southern NH, 1070 Holt Ave, Suite 1400, Manchester NH 03109.
