Jeanne G. Martel, 87, of Manchester, NH died on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH.
Mrs. Martel was born on February 2, 1934 in Newport, NH, the daughter of the late Myron Annis and Effie (Graham) Wilson. She was the stepdaughter of Glenn Wilson, who helped raise her from about 10 years old.
She graduated from St. Joseph High School for Girls with the class of 1952. Mrs. Martel was a communicant of St. Catherine Church in Manchester.
She enjoyed reading and worked for some time at Annie’s Book Store where she loved to decorate their storefront window monthly. Jeanne also enjoyed traveling, later on boat cruises to the Caribbean islands with husband Bob. Her children remember many summer trips with the family including Montreal, Niagara Falls and Washington DC. Being of Irish and English decent, she spent some time with her children researching and discussing ancestors and origins from Ireland.
Jeanne was a Girl Scout leader; she also helped assemble a parade float for National Guard Officers Wives Club for the 200th Fourth of July Celebration in 1976, a huge project for all those participating.
Members of her family include; four children, Judy McColgan and her husband, Peter, Robert Martel and his wife Martha, Thomas Martel, Sharon Cox and her husband, Richard, grandchildren, Jillian McColgan, Connor Martel, Caroline Martel, Charlotte Martel, Aidan Cox, Trevor Cox, one great grandson, Amos Martel. Mrs. Martel was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Martel and by her brother, Myron Graham.
SERVICES: Services will be private.
Donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Mrs. Martel.
