Jeremiah F. Sullivan, of Bedford, NH, formerly of Weston, MA died Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Arbors of Bedford, in Bedford, NH. He was 91.
Proudly born in Boston on November 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (McCarthy) Sullivan. He was raised and educated in Harvard Square. He graduated from Boston College with a degree in Mathematics. He worked in computer programming, starting his career working on different government programs in California and Colorado, and retiring from the computer division of the State of Massachusetts. As a child, Jeremiah was surrounded by family around Harvard Square. Like many of his siblings, he worked his way through college by working at the Harvard Law Library. In later years, he would spend his summer weekends with family in Marshfield, MA and visiting his parents in Belmont during cooler months.
A devout Catholic, upon returning the Boston area, he was part of the Catholic Graduates Club, where in the late 1960s he met his future wife, Mary Sullivan. The two married and settled first in Watertown and later in Weston to start their life and family together. They lived in Weston for more than 40 years before moving up to Bedford, NH, where they could be closer to their son and grandchildren.
During their time in Weston, Jeremiah was an active parishioner at Saint Julia’s serving as a Eucharistic Minister and singing in various church choirs. In his free time, he had many interests, including skiing, cribbage, attending small local theater, watching Boston College football and hockey and going for long walks to center of Weston and back multiple times a day. He also loved to travel. Making many trips to visit relatives in Ireland and taking cruises with his wife to Hawaii and Alaska and a special honeymoon transatlantic trip aboard the QE2.
Jeremiah loved to sing, especially Irish songs, and he was never afraid to sing out loud, even when others wouldn’t. He had a big personality, with a sense of humor to match. If he had a joke to tell, he would make sure everyone heard and laughed along with him. He was the ultimate Boston College Super Fan, having football and hockey tickets for years. He even joined the Cape Cod Club just to continue to tailgate and spend time with friends from the class of 1956. But his greatest love in love was his wife, Mary. They were inseparable for more than 55 years, until she passed in 2023, and while he lived on for another 2 ½ years, he missed her every day.
Jeremiah leaves his son, Jeremiah Sullivan, Jr. and his wife, Kerri, of Bedford, NH and his three grandchildren, Alexander, Benjamin and Charlotte. His sister, Mary Lou (Stretton) of Arlington, MA; and many nieces, nephews and first and second cousins. He is preceded in death by his brothers, John, Daniel, Neil and Joseph and sisters, Margaret (Donegan) and Eileen Sullivan.
