Jerome Bennet Friedenberg, 89, of Bedford, died at his home on January 24, 2005. He was born in New York City, New York, on July 11, 1915, and was the son of the late Solomon and Edythe (Lapidus) Friedenberg and resided in Lexington, Massachusetts, before moving to Bedford, NH, in 1970. Mr. Friedenberg was a pioneer in many areas of aviation engineering, ranging from early helicopter designs at Sikorsky and Bell Helicopters to lunar landing craft at RCA. As a New Hampshire resident for over 30 years, Jerome was a connoisseur of fine antiques and unique clocks and enjoyed life with a passion. He was the widower of Leona (Shenker) Friedenberg who died in 1984. Family members include his son, Richard Friedenberg of Pacific Palisades, California, his daughter Carla Peltonen of Aspen, Colorado, four grandchildren, his beloved sister Rose Wasserstron of DeWitt, Newrk, York, and numerous nieces and nephews. IN HIS LIFE: He was born a third generation resident of the Bronx, and later moved to New Rochelle, New York, where he married his wife, Leona, who preceded him in death by 20 years. He loved exercising, good food and great conversation, which marked every day of his life. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Nick and Jenna Friedenbert and Lucas and Erika Peltonen. SERVICES: Relatives and friends are welcomed to a memorial gathering for Jerome on Sunday, January 30th at the Athens Restaurant in Manchester, NH from 2 to 5 PM.
