Joan E. Croteau

Joan E. Croteau, of Nashua, NH, passed away on March 19, with her family by her side. Joan was born on April 27, 1934 in Bethel, ME to Verne & Mary (Vallo) Corkum.

Joan graduated in 1952 from Gould Academy where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Donald A. Croteau. They moved to Milan, NH to raise their family of 5 children. She volunteered at the elementary school for many years while raising her children as a stay at home mom and finally took the position as school cook where she enjoyed watching the children grow. Joan would eventually move to southern NH and work as a machine operator at Cal-Comp till she retired at 65.

Joan will be deeply missed as the center piece of her family. Whether it be for holiday's, family reunions or birthdays family and friends would come together at her request. There was nothing Joan enjoyed more than being with her family and watching the great grandchildren grow, especially the last couple of years when her health had improved so much. She spent most of her days reading and doing puzzles in the communal room and her absence will be profound. Joan was a very generous person who had an undying respect for those who served in our military and always gave to several veterans groups.

Joan joins her parents, her husband Donald, brother Verne and her brother in law Bob Croteau in heaven. She is survived by her brothers Carl, Wayne and Butch Corkum and her sister Nancy Plante; her sons James and his wife Sandy Croteau, Brian and his wife Mary Croteau, Ted Croteau and his fiance' Nicole Marino, and daughters Patsy and her husband Bill Morrison and Pamela and her husband Curt Willson, 4 grand children and 5 great grand children and a large extended family.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held by her family at the annual family reunion.

In Joan's honor, the family kindly asks that donations be made to either the Paralyzed Veteran of America or The Wounded Warrior Project.
