Joan Frances Talty Drescher died peacefully on August 13, 2026, after a period of declining health. Joan was born in Manchester, NH on January 27, 1934, to the late Francis and Catherine (McIntyre) Talty.

Joan’s successes in life had an early start as the winner of the Sweeney Park Doll Carriage Parade. She grew up on the west side of Manchester where she attended St. Raphael School. She graduated from West High School Class of 1951 where she was a majorette and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in 1956 from Notre Dame College in Manchester. Later she would receive her master’s degree from Rivier College in 1981. In 1958, she married David Drescher, whom she met on a blind date. They moved to Nashua, NH where they raised four children. Joanie could cook dinner, help her kids with their homework, and write her thesis on a manual typewriter all at the same time. This may explain why Old El Paso tacos were a staple during this phase.

After earning her master’s degree, Joan went on to have a successful career as a learning disabilities specialist at the Hallsville School in Manchester.

Joan attended countless sporting events in support of her children – football, road races, baseball, basketball, and soccer. She also served for decades as ‘Team Mother’ to her husband’s baseball team, often referring to herself as the ‘World’s Oldest Team Mother in Captivity.’

Joan appreciated the simple things in life – the first flowers of spring, the birds, and her beloved dog, Oreo. Joan also loved her neighborhood; she always looked forward to spring when the neighbors would be out and about catching up after a cold winter. She enjoyed playing “Nana” to her buddy Benjamin. She also had an incredible love for wolves and was very passionate about wolf advocacy, education, and rehabilitation.

In additional to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, David, and her sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Robert O’Neill. Joan is survived by her children David of St. Louis, Kristen of Omaha, and Stephen and Lisa of Nashua, as well as two nieces and a nephew.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all who provided extraordinary medical care to Joanie, thereby ensuring her quality of life for as long as possible.
