Joan H. Hartley, 87, of Pflugerville, TX, formerly of Manchester, NH, Bedford, NH and Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020 at St. David's Medical Center, Austin, TX with her daughter at her side.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on July 10, 1933, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen La Nois. Joan was raised and educated in Hampden, Massachusetts. Joan married the love of her life, the late Donald R. Hartley Sr., in 1952. The young couple settled in Springfield to raise their four beautiful children.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, raising and tender to her family was Joan's greatest passion in life. She loved her husband and children unconditionally and was proud of each of their many accomplishments. She took great pride in her home, offering a warm haven for friends and family to celebrate birthdays and holidays. Joan played the organ wonderfully and often gathered family around the organ to sing hymns as she played. She enjoyed playing board games, especially Scrabble and Dominos, with her many dear friends. Following Don's retirement, the couple took countless trips to Europe, Hawaii, and cruised the Caribbean and Mediterranean. A devout Catholic, Joan found great comfort and strength in her Christian Faith. For many years, she shared her musical talents to St. Elizabeth Seton, Bedford, as member of the choir alongside her husband, Don. Joan will be best remembered for her kind heart and dedication to family.
Joan is survived her four children, Donald Hartley, Jr. and wife Judy of Palm Dale, CA, Richard Hartley, Sr. and wife Jodi of Hooksett, NH, Thomas Hartley of Pembroke, NH and Anne-Marie Spradlin and husband Randell of Taylor, TX; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren with one more on the way; sister, Elaine Bourbonnais and husband Michael; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
