Joan A. (McLain) Newcomb, 76, of Hooksett, passed away at home on December 18, 2012.
She was born in Boston, MA on August 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Gray) McLain and grew up in Holbrook, MA. She had been a NH resident since 1986, living in Bedford and for the last 12 years, in Hooksett. She retired as the Director of Case Management for the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester. She was an active parishioner of Ste. Marie Church. She enjoyed needlepoint and loved her Maine coon cats.
Family members include her husband of 53 years, Paul F. Newcomb; two daughters, Alice Kosiarski and her husband Donald of Hooksett, and Maureen Newcomb of Ft. Collins, CO; two sons, David Newcomb and his wife Susan of Woodsboro, MD, and Paul Andrew Newcomb of Penn Hills, PA; eight grandchildren, Aprill (& husband Mike), Andrew, Peter, John, Bethany, James, Dallas, and Boaz; one great grandson, Kai; a sister and her husband, Elizabeth & Joseph Mihalus of Corona, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 in Ste. Marie Church. Committal services will follow in the chapel at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
