Joan Mary Roy

Joan Mary Roy, 77, of Goffstown, NH, passed away on January 17, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, Joan was born on March 18, 1944. She was the daughter of Amie Paradis and Mary (DeSchuiteneer) Paradis.

Joan attended Goffstown High School where she was a cheerleader and Vice President of her Sophomore class. She later drove a school bus and was the Treasurer of Goffstown School Board and was known for her antics and April Fools jokes with the kids. Joan touched a lot of people and was always busy throughout her lifetime. Joan and Tony owned The Pilgrim Remnant Shop in Goffstown. Joan became a Cosmetologist in 1990 and owned Shear Delight where she was a hairdresser for many years. She loved teaching sewing and worked as a nurse’s aide and volunteer at the Hillsborough County Nursing home.

Joan married her high school sweetheart, Antonio (Tony) Joseph Roy, Jr. in 1960 and would have been married 61 years on January 28, 2022. Together, they raised five children. She loved line dancing, sewing, and was an avid and competitive cribbage, poker and bingo player.

Joan was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, active social life and deep love of family. Joan is survived by a large and loving family, including her husband Antonio (Tony) Jr., sons Antonio (Tony) Joseph III and wife Tina of Nashville, TN; Thomas Leo of McAllen, Texas; Timothy Robert and wife Lisa of Goffstown, NH; Theodore (Teddy) Richard and wife Alissa of Coconut Creek FL; Travis Jean and wife Dale of Concord, NH. Joan also loved and enjoyed every one of her eight grandchildren Helen, Tiffany, Tanya, Timothy, Taylor, Thomas Jr, Noah, Teddy Jr. Six great-grandchildren. Makalya, Aidan, Garrett Jr., Aliyah, Savanna, Autumn.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held on January 26, 2022, from 2:00-3:30PM at Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St, Manchester, NH with a Service of remembrance beginning at 3:30pm in the Funeral Home. There will be a private burial service for the family at New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery on January 27, 2022, at 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, New Hampshire.
