Joan F. Westover

Joan F. (Golden) Westover, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Center Barnstead, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie Blanche (Locke) Golden. Raised and educated in Ashland, she was a graduate of Ashland High School, Class of 1951, then relocated to Beebe River, NH where she raised her two beautiful daughters. While in Beebe River, she worked in the Mills for many years. A woman of countless talents, throughout the years Joan had been employed as a security guard at Belknap County Jail, a florist at local supermarkets, returned to school after retirement to become a Certified Nursing Assistant at various nursing homes.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Joan's family was the center of her universe. Her greatest passion in life was being a doting grandmother. Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and playing card games and board games, especially cribbage. A simple and humble woman, she loved to watch birds and garden. Joan was a terrific cook and baker, often baking decadent pies for her family and friends. In her younger years, Joan was a talented artist and writer, often writing poems about her life. Joan aspired to make her home a place of comfort, open to family and friends. She was truly a mother to all. Joan will be best remembered for her generous heart and dedication to family.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Piet and husband Keith of Goffstown, and Jayne Radwan of Goffstown; her granddaughter, Sarah Piet; three siblings, Frances Colegrove, Jean Vlangas, and Daniel Golden; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 13 siblings.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Ave., Manchester, on Saturday, April 16, from 2:00 to 4:00P.M. Friends and relatives invited. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Joan's memory to the American Lung Association in New Hampshire, 51 Islington Street , Cloudport Unit 1, Portsmouth, NH 03801.
