Joey Afzaal

Joey Afzaal, 33, of Manchester, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2023.

He was born in New York City, NY on December 5, 1989 to Daphne Hania Afzaal. He was raised by his grandparents and mother in Freehold, NJ until he was 8 years old. He then moved to Hopkington,NH to live with his uncle Shamael Afzaal and Aunt Debbie Barone. Joey has lived in Manchester, NH since his graduation from Hopkinton High School.

The most important person in Joey’s life was his son Ace.  He loved spending time with him and with his dog Thor at the park. He enjoyed cooking, hip-hop music and freestyle rapping as Guerilla Tactix in his free time.  He used to be an avid skater in his youth.

Joey is survived by his son Ace Carito of Londonderry; his mother Daphne Afzaal, of Staten Island NY; his grandfather Afzaal Ahmed of Freehold, NJ; his uncles Naeem Omar Mahmood of Waterbury, CT, and Shamael Afzaal of Hopkington; his aunt Sunia Afzaal Trauger of Cambridge, MA;. He is also survived by his aunt Deborah Barone and his dog Thor and his cousins Saqib, Sohair, Nadia and Najib Omar, and Sean and Leila (Lee) Trauger.

A calling hour will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Thursday, January 19 from 1 to 2 with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home at 2 PM.
