John Auchterlonie Jr.

John Auchterlonie Jr, 77, of Concord died at home unexpectedly September 23, 2022.

John was born in Lawrence, MA to John and Mary (Mooney) Auchterlonie and was raised and educated in Andover, MA and Bristol, NH. He was an All-Star basketball player in school and had the distinct honor of playing with his team during halftime at Boston Garden. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the US Air Force as an air traffic controller during Vietnam and continued with a career in air traffic control upon honorable discharge. Once retired, John found a new passion in home remodeling.

John had many hobbies which included volunteering at the food pantry and singing in the choir at St. Peter’s. He also loved music and was inspired by his mother to take up the guitar and piano, sharing his musical skills through performances at weddings and funerals. He was an avid sports fan and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joan (Gagnon) Auchterlonie; his children John Auchterlonie and wife Maria of CT, Josh Auchterlonie and wife Araceli of CT, Daniel Auchterlonie of NH, Jessica Molitano and husband David of MA, and Amy Lasher and husband Michael of VA; his sisters, Marsha Brophy of NH and Judy Pinkney and husband David of MA; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Billy Auchterlonie.

Committal Service with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 1:00pm in the chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
