John J. Boyd, 83, 0f 48 Medford Farms, Goffstown, NH died July 13, 2000, at the Veteran Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 22, 1917, the son of the late Raymond and Sarah (McHugh) Boyd and has been a resident of Goffstown for the past 21 years. He retired in 1972 with the U.S. Air Force as Master Sergeant after 25 years of service and also served for seven years with the US Army. John was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the AMVETS, the American Legion Jutras Post # 43, the Veterans of Foreign War, the Air Force Sergeant Association and received the Bronze Star Medal in 1969, and was a receptient of the Purple Heart during WW II, the Viet Nam Conflict and the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of Mother Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Bahia Temple in Orlando, Florida, and was a former 32nd degree Mason. John was the widower of his first wife, Lucille (Collins) Boyd who died in 1963. He was an avid fisherman. Family members include his wife of 28 years, Rita (Blanchet) (Laferriere) Boyd of Goffstown, a son, Fred J. Boyd, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, a step son, Alan Laferriere of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two step daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Phelps of Goffstown and Mrs. Terry (Jeanne) Miley of Derry, NH, eight step grandchildren, one great step granddaughter, an aunt of Upper Darby, PA. SERVICES: Full military honors and entombment will be held for Mr. Boyd at NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on Wednesday afternoon, July 19th at 1 o'clock.
