John F. Callahan, 71, of 323 Franklin Street, Manchester died December 22, 2000 at Catholic Medical Center. Born in Fitchburg, MA on June 15, 1939, he was the son of George and Margaret (Robbins) Callahan and had resided in Manchester for the past fifteen years. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was an avid philatelist and owned several postage stamp collecting stores in Massachusetts. Family members include his son, George Callahan of Concord; a grandson, Christopher Callahan of Sommerville, MA; a brother, William J. Callahan of Boston, MA; a sister, Mary Martineau of FL; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial gathering will be held in the Chapel of Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Thursday from 9 to 10 AM. A memorial service will follow in the Chapel at 10:00 AM.
