JOHN A. CLARKE
LITTLETON, NH John A. Clarke, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2009 at the Morrison Nursing home after a long illness.
A native of Littleton, John was born on June 17, 1926, a son to Homer A. and Elsie (Wallis) Clarke. He attended area schools.
John was a logger in the North Country for many years prior to becoming a long-distance truck driver. John and his wife of 30 years, Margaret, moved to Nashua in the late 1950s and raised their three children. He worked for the Coca-Cola Company in Nashua for over 30 years before returning to the North Country. John often referred to himself as OJ which stood for Old John. He loved to socialize with people, travel, hunt, golf, go on annual fishing trips, and watch old time westerns, especially those starring John Wayne.
Surviving family members include one daughter, Lori and her husband, Brian Dombroski of Pembroke, NH; two sons, Scott O. Clarke of Nashua, NH, and John J. and his wife, Brenda Clarke of Dunbarton, NH; two sisters, Patricia and John Blake of Littleton, NH, and Dorothy and Leonard Clark of Littleton, NH; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Stevens) Clarke, his parents, and one brother.
SERVICES The family will receive friends on Friday, February 6th from 11:00 to 12 noon at the Pillsbury Funeral Home located at 101 Union Street in Littleton. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12 noon on Friday, with Rev. Randy DeTrude officiating. Burial will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Eagles Club immediately following the funeral service, at which time the Littleton Elks Lodge #1831 will perform a brief ceremony.
