John Coughlin, known to friends as "Jack", passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the age of 78 years.

Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon and daughters, Maureen Elledge and her husband David of Hanahan, SC; Veronica Harding and her husband Scott of Barnstead, NH; Paula Biathrow and her husband Craig of Meriden, NH; grandchildren Paige and Joseph and his wife Nicole; and great-granddaughter Keira.

Jack grew up in the Portsmouth/Kittery area. He attended both Peterborough High, which he dearly loved, and St. John's High in Concord, then New Hampshire Tech in Portsmouth. From working at General Electric, he went into the US Army in January of '62 until '64 – stationed at Fort Carson, CO. Jack served as a tanker and repair radio man. Jack worked for Ingersoll Rand for 22 years and came out of retirement to work with Voith.

Upon his return from the Army, he met his wife Sharon, through her brother, at Pinkham Pond and married in Durham, NH in 1966.

Jack loved the fall at his home on Pinkham Pond, doting on his grandchildren, and commiserating with friends and family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00pm at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King Street, Boscawen, NH 03303. He will be laid to rest at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery immediately following with military honors presented.
