John B. Longval, 89, of Bedford, died February 6, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Junction, VT following a brief illness. He was born in Saint-Camille de Wolfe, Quebec, Canada on May 17, 1914 and had been a resident of the Manchester and Bedford area since 1940. He was a World War II Army Veteran from 1943 to 1945, serving in Africa and Italy and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a Forman for L. P. Cote Trucking Company for many years until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Crawford) Longval who died in 1994. Family members include four daughters, Maggie Smith of Arroya Grande, CA, Pat Longval of Allenstown, Mary Olson of Melvin Village and Ruth Amaya of Hyattsville, MD; two sons, John M. Longval of Goffstown and Tom Longval of Bedford; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. As requested by Mr. Longval, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.
